Dihexa
PreclinicalSynthetic oligopeptide; angiotensin IV-derived HGF/c-Met-dependent synaptogenic agent · Also known as N-hexanoic-Tyr-Ile-(6) aminohexanoic amide, PNB-0408, angiotensin IV analog
Overview
Dihexa is a synthetic peptide derived from angiotensin IV, engineered to cross the blood-brain barrier and promote the formation of new synapses. In cell and rodent studies it has shown potent procognitive and synaptogenic effects that appear to depend on activation of the hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)/c-Met system. Despite striking laboratory potency, the published evidence is essentially entirely preclinical — there are no adequate controlled human efficacy trials and it is NOT FDA-approved. Any human cognitive benefit is unproven, and the marketing comparisons to BDNF refer to in-vitro potency, not demonstrated clinical effect.
Commonly Reported Uses
These are uses commonly discussed or marketed by users and vendors — not a list of proven or approved benefits, and not a recommendation.
- Cognitive enhancement / memory (marketed claim; no controlled human efficacy data)
- Neurorepair / support in neurodegeneration (preclinical concept only; not demonstrated in humans)
What to Track
Data points you and your clinician might monitor. For observation only — not a diagnostic protocol.
- Subjective — daily cognition, memory, and focus check-ins over a baseline period
- WHOOP — sleep stages and HRV trend as general neuro/recovery context
- Subjective — mood and anxiety check-ins to monitor tolerability

Safety & legal notes
NOT FDA-approved for any indication; no published adequate human efficacy or safety trials. Sold 'research use only.' Human safety, including long-term effects of a potent synaptogenic/growth-factor-pathway agent, is unknown. Not an approved drug; athletes should not assume it is permitted. Consult a licensed clinician.
