Hexarelin
Limited human dataSynthetic growth-hormone-releasing peptide (ghrelin/GHS-R1a receptor agonist) · Also known as Examorelin, EP-23905, Hex
Overview
Hexarelin (examorelin) is a synthetic hexapeptide growth-hormone-releasing peptide that activates the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) to trigger growth hormone release, and is often described as one of the more potent GHRPs for an acute GH spike. It is not FDA-approved for any indication and has only been studied in small, mostly short-term human pharmacology and cardiovascular research settings. A notable limitation is that the GH response tends to wane with repeated use as the receptor desensitizes, and it can raise cortisol and prolactin. Claims around muscle growth, fat loss, and heart-protective effects remain preliminary and unproven for routine use.
Commonly Reported Uses
These are uses commonly discussed or marketed by users and vendors — not a list of proven or approved benefits, and not a recommendation.
- Growth hormone stimulation / GH-axis research (research use; not an approved treatment)
- Muscle growth and recovery (marketed claim; human efficacy evidence limited)
- Cardiovascular/cardioprotective effects (early research only; not an approved use)
- Fat loss (marketed claim; human evidence limited)
What to Track
Data points you and your clinician might monitor. For observation only — not a diagnostic protocol.
- Labs — IGF-1 and a clinician-monitored GH response, plus prolactin/cortisol if a clinician is watching off-target effects
- InBody/DEXA — skeletal muscle mass and body-fat % against a baseline
- WHOOP — recovery score and sleep stages
- Subjective daily check-ins — energy, appetite, and any flushing or fatigue

Safety & legal notes
NOT FDA-approved for any human indication. Repeated use is associated with receptor desensitization and it can raise cortisol and prolactin; long-term human safety is not established. Prohibited in sport at all times under the WADA Prohibited List (S2: Peptide Hormones, Growth Factors); examorelin (hexarelin) is named explicitly among banned GH-releasing peptides. Educational information only, not medical or legal advice. Consult a licensed clinician.
